Light of Day!

3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Genesis 1:3-5

Last week, I was talking with my toddlers about how Jesus is the light of the world  before they colored and painted pictures of fireflies and lightbulbs. How the light takes over where there is darkness. (John 8:12: When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”)

This past weekend I had a vision of an arrow tipped with light… light representing truth … the truth of God. That wherever the arrow landed, the whole area would be splashed in light – no darkness, no shadow –  only bright light. isn’t it amazing how the light of is as truth?! That light and truth chase away the darkness! #exposed!

Sometimes I think we look for truth in things … but maybe God sees truth as a blanket… with the little lies, the dark shadows, as the small things. Where there has been fear or insecurities, rather than those dark things being overwhelming, rather they are insignificant in His eyes. He is the Conqueror, the Creator, Lord over all. The bad things we go through are so insignificant in terms of the truth that He sees. And yet He cares about every detail of our lives… Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)

Perspective is so important …
If a person’s perspective is that the mountain before them is the most powerful thing they have ever known ..be it cancer, or paying for college … then they will probably fail. It makes me think of that quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” This has to do with perspective … not only of yourself, but the issue at hand. In other words… if you believe in yourself …. or rather.. if you trust God, then there is the possibility of you succeeding against any situation. Even as the bible says : I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. (Mark 11:23) #faith

Light is good. The light of God…representing truth, is definitely the more encouraging space to have your perspective molded, or shaped.

The Righteous Will Flourish & Shine

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
Psalm 92:12 (NIV)

This reminded me of a verse that has been on my heart this week …

The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18 (NLT)

This sort of encouragement is always the best. Purposeful. Fulfilling, and Clear.

Psalm 92
(NLT) continues to describe the godly or righteous.
12 But the godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
13 For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.
14Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
they will remain vital and green.
15They will declare, “The LORD is just!
He is my rock!
There is no evil in him!”

Flourish. Grow. Be fruitful…at every age! Vital and green!
I am feeling this way now! I believe it for all of my future!
I am excited!

May you experience this too! Let us stay in the house of the Lord…in His presence!!!

Service

There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:5

This marks a change of season for me. The last few days were about maturing… listening to God, and being obedient. Being silent through transition yet expecting to move from the place of difficulty or pain, to that of abundance!

This verse reminds me of the fact that it is not necessarily what we do, if our hearts are in the right place. If our hearts are after God, then we will choose what He has for us. We will consistently choose Him! And we must train ourselves in this, to be obedient, and to choose well!

The PerspectiVerse comes from a chapter discussing spiritual gifts. These verses are so important in regards to these things. Check it Out!!

1Now, dear brothers and sisters,a regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. 2You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. 3So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.

4There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

7A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise adviceb; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.c

And so on it goes…

This makes me think of all the aspects of the Holy Spirit…of God. We cannot know everything there is to know about God … but we get glimpses…here and there, through other people who are made in the image of God.(Genesis 9:6).

The key here, in my opinion, is to be aware of what the Holy Spirit is doing, and not to worry so much about HOW God is moving, but rather, to be aware of WHAT He is getting across. Each gift has a different purpose and is used as a different tool to paint the picture that He wants us to see. Let us have open ears to hear, and eyes to see (Luke 14:35) – this verse actually speaks of flavorless salt being useless, in the NLT version. Let us be full of flavor, and purpose, and understanding. Amen!

It's in His awe-inspiring hands.

16Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not quench the Spirit. 20Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22reject every kind of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (NIV)

God wins.

Every day we have a choice, a semblance of choices. We can choose God’s will or our own. Not choosing God’s way, can be a sense of duty … another’s opinion … our own selfish desires. Whatever we choose sets the tone and trajectory for life continuing.

We can choose His way, consistently and reach our destination quickly and with ease. Or we can waver and be confused, and not really seem to ever go anywhere. Lastly, we can rebel, and run in any direction except God’s will. When we do this, sometimes God comes after us and we get aligned … and sometimes the rebellion is strong that it leads to death.

Always, always choose what is right. Choose to do what is best in His eyes. As I learned as a young child….God is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient. He is everywhere, knows everything and is all-powerful. It’s kind of irrational to go any way, except His way! 😉

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

Hope!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Overflowing hope. Imagine. When you have it, it is amazing!!! If you don’t it can seem so elusive.
Hope.
Joy and Peace will (if you are not experiencing this…you need to check your walk with Christ 🙂 ) fill us … as we trust (have faith) in Him. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Wow. Faith requires hope. Hope in Christ. Hope in God. Hope for things that we cannot see … and it is the confidence and assurance about those things we hope for.

Hope is a feeling maybe like rising up in a hot air balloon, rising up over all the things of this world, all the things going on below. And looking out over them towards the horizon…the horizon of things promised or hoped for. The dreams that we hide in our hearts…or the goals and plans we strive towards. When we are in this place, of hope, the worries of this world fade and drift by, making space in our view (or perspective) for the things we desire to come towards us. Maybe it’s a time with our grandchildren, maybe it’s a business accomplishment .. usually it is many things.

Let us HOPE More!

We can rise above the things in this world…think on higher things (Colossians 3:2) and move forward!

God bless!

God. Most Almighty.

For I have sworn by my own name,” says the LORD …
Jeremiah 49:13a (NLT)

How to explain this…

A little context perhaps?

12And this is what the LORD says: “If the innocent must suffer, how much more must you! You will not go unpunished! You must drink this cup of judgment! 13For I have sworn by my own name,” says the LORD, “that Bozrah will become an object of horror and a heap of ruins; it will be mocked and cursed. All its towns and villages will be desolate forever.”

This verse always reminds me of the Greatness of God. Wow. He is no little .. His words are so powerful.Who He is. Wow.

If God swears by His own name that you are cursed… my goodness! There is no question. You are in big trouble.

But if He blesses you, then oh my goodness…you must be in good hands!!!

Be strong and courageous! seems to be the season! 🙂 Did you need a reminder: be strong and courageous!

God is with us!! Make sure to stay obedient and aligned with His will. 🙂
